ABOUT THE ROLE The batch plant supervisor is responsible for the quality and consistency of the concrete produced in both batch plants. The safety and education of the batch plant employees along with the maintenance of all appropriate batching equipment, is necessary to achieve this task. SAFETY IS OUR HIGHEST PRIORITY. WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Safety of crew:
- All policies/procedures followed
- Response to all department incidents and perform incident investigations.
- Completion of all safety CAP items
- Daily stops in the plants to take time observing safety of tasks being performed.
- Ensure cleanliness of batch plants is maintained.
- Continue weekly toolbox talks for structural batchers with struck pour & finishing crew. Architectural batchers will continue with arch pouring crew.
- Quality and consistency of the concrete. Respond to and correct issues regarding slump and air fluctuations.
- Proper maintenance of the batch plants and structural Alar (delivery equipment excluded)
- Timely batching of concrete for the beds
- Accurate punches in Kronos and weekly absence sheets
- Continuous education of batch plant personnel to improve quality and consistence of concrete
- Maintaining inventory of all necessary materials (cement/aggregates/color/admixtures/etc.)
- Monthly inventories to front office
- Schedule and maintain preventive maintenance procedures for each production facility.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR The ideal Batch Plant Supervisor is a safety-focused and detail-oriented leader with strong technical knowledge of concrete batching, quality control, and equipment maintenance. They are a proactive problem solver who ensures consistency in production while driving continuous improvement. This individual is adaptable, works well independently and with a team, and leads with integrity to promote a culture of safety and accountability. IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
- PCI Level II Quality Control Personnel Certification
- ACI Grade I Field Technician Certification
- 2 years' experience batching concrete
- Batch plant operator with at least 2 years of experience preferred.
- Experience maintaining/troubleshooting batching equipment
- Mix design experience with an understanding of the influence of water and admixtures on mix performance.
- Knowledge of batching equipment and procedures, including the calibration of moisture probes.
- Basic math skills are required.
- Truthful individual who will be honest and forthcoming in all company work related discussions.
- Passion and drive to continuously improve the overall quality of the batch plant department.
- Ability to understand the work flow and can help influence it to operate as efficiently as possible.
- Will show humbleness in dealing with all company employees.
- ACI Field Concrete Testing Technician certification is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
- Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
- Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
- Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
- Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors year-round
- Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
