Job Summary:

The Division of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking an energetic Social Media Specialist to create content and collaborate with our campus partners. The focus of the position is to propagate our various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn) to better connect with our various target audiences.

We're looking for an individual who can engage a wide range of stakeholders and showcase campus arts research and our students, faculty, and staff utilizing trends and best practices, while tracking performance and impact of the work. This role will be responsible for conveying institutional messages by planning campaigns, arranging or creating photo and video content for multiple platforms, creating graphics, working with graphic designers, and generating sharp and bright writing.

This position reports to the Division of the Arts Communications Director and may work with student staff. This person also collaborates with other Division of the Arts staff on projects, events and artist residencies.


Responsibilities:
Contributes to strategy development and implements marketing projects in support of institutional or unit marketing goals.

  • 15% Develops, implements, and maintains strategic marketing plans based on research and established strategies
  • 45% Develops, implements, and disseminates marketing materials through various communication mediums utilizing appropriate technologies and techniques
  • 20% Collects, analyzes, prepares, summarizes, and disseminates data and trends relevant to ongoing or future marketing activities

  • 20% Plans, writes, creates, and schedules content for various internal and external stakeholders across all social media platforms, utilizing photography, graphic design, and video


Tasks:

  • Plans, writes, creates, and schedules marketing material and content for various internal and external stakeholders across all social media platforms, utilizing photography, graphic design and video/video editing.
  • Works with partner social media content creators to amplify events or happenings on campus.
  • Creates & operates social media calendar for the Division; collects, analyzes, prepares, summarizes, and disseminates data and trends relevant to ongoing or future marketing activities.
  • Studies current and new social media to identify, propose, and implement new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • Monitors Division website and updates content as needed.
  • Works events, attends functions, talks or performances, provides editorial and proofreading support to colleagues when needed, etc.

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree


Qualifications:

- 2+ years experience in communications and/or marketing, with extensive social media experience and a track record of account strategy and management.
- Experience running organizational social media accounts to convey important messages and build a brand.
- Succinct writing and editing skills, with the ability to create written content in different voices across different accounts.
- The willingness to create and post content and monitor accounts during business and off hours.
- Proficiency in mobile tools, current social media platforms, Office 365 Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Google groups, and WordPress.
- Ability to design graphics and create or edit photographs and short videos.
- Familiarity with social media analytics, reporting, and advertising tools to manage social accounts and campaigns.
- Ability to optimize content for different audiences on social media platforms.
- A willingness to learn new skills and work collaboratively with varied and diverse professionals.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
