Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

As the Associate Sourcing Manager - Flour, you have a key role sitting within the Global Flour and Oats team and reporting to the Global Flour Senior Sourcing Manager. This category directly manages over $280 million in annual spend primarily in support of North American Foodservice, Meals and Snacks while also overseeing one direct report (Buyer - Pasta, Wheat & Other Flour). Your role will act as the face of the category for the North America region with significant connections to the business and managing supply relationship responsibilities. You will lead partnerships across Sourcing, Grain Merchandising, Innovation Technology & Quality and other functional stakeholders to deliver deep understanding of commodity markets, functionality in products, while delivering end-to-end strategy, cost savings, Total Value Creation, Risk Management, Sustainability and other Supply Chain goals.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

End-to-End Supply Chain Management

  • Develop and execute a 3-year Holistic Category Strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives and includes goals for cost optimization, risk mitigation, and sustainability
  • Manage and elevate engagement with suppliers to develop and influence relationships through the Strategic Revenue Management (SRM) process; work with current supply base and develop alternate potential suppliers, ingredients, and formulations in partnership with Supply Chain and R&D to meet quality, consumer and brand requirements
  • Build short-term and long-term supply strategy across category in strong alignment with Sourcing Stakeholders, Innovation Technology & Quality, and OU Leadership to mitigate supply risk and ensure capacity requirements
  • Drive results through the Business Process Management (BPM) and PEAK process to bring category projects, updates and trade-off decisions to OU, Supply Chain and Sourcing while allowing business to determine risk appetite and prioritization
  • Drive category advancements against Gren House Gas, Sustainability and other Global Impact targets in partnership with internal stakeholders and suppliers

Financial and Risk Management

  • Manage derivative position (futures and options) according to business volume needs and cash contracting cycles
  • Provide leadership on cash market insights (basis and co-products) and coverage recommendations to optimize performance against financials
  • Execute financial excellence within the category team via system/reporting knowledge, regular contract and hedge position management, cost model/minor cost management, and risk & opportunity calculations with respect to month market outlook (MMO)
  • Deliver according to regional/global performance metrics for your categories including fulfillment of cost savings initiatives and Total Value

Leadership and Development

  • Develop and support direct report including career development, fundamental support on categories and point of escalation if required
  • Develop and maintain expertise with the Source to Pay Process
  • Drive continuous improvement through the broader Sourcing function with process and thought leadership

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5+ years Supply Chain experience
  • Past buying/category leadership experience (ideally in direct materials)
  • Strong systems and process knowledge (experience with contract management, risk management, market analysis, project management, financial analysis preferred)
  • Leadership skills, including ability to collaborate and manage broad cross-functional teams (including across difference and distance)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree with a focus in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Economics
  • 5+ years Supply Chain experience within CPG
  • Strong Sourcing functional expertise - including strategic sourcing process, supplier negotiations/influence, project management and internal stakeholder management
  • Previous commodity and risk management experience
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Broad perspective - can "connect the dots" and utilize strategic thinking; demonstrates curiosity
  • End-to-End Supply Chain experience - leveraging cross-functional understanding to deliver successful technical, process and project management leadership across the function
  • Executive presence with ability to influence across the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively coordinate projects, identify trends and solutions, and create and maintain relationships with internal and external partners
  • Ability to work autonomously, thrive in ambiguity and during times of significant change

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $106800.00 - $160300.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
