Sponsored Projects Administration is dedicated to providing excellent service to the contract and grant community. Sponsored Projects staff act as UCI's institutional officials in the review and submission of proposals to extramural sponsors for research, training and public service projects. Other institutional responsibilities include: negotiating and accepting awards on behalf of The Regents; drafting, negotiating and executing subcontracts; ensuring institutional compliance with Federal and State regulations, sponsor policy and University policy; representing the campus and The Regents when interacting with sponsors; coordinating pre-award and post-award actions that require either institutional or sponsor prior approval; and resolving problems related to sponsored projects. Your Role on the Team Under general supervision, develops and / or oversees research proposals, awards and / or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional and research sponsor policies. Works on proposals of moderate scope such as single investigator NSF proposals where analysis of financial information or reports requires review of a variety of factors (e.g. budgets, salaries, expenses, etc.). Receives assignments on project basis and fully analyzes problems, gathers data and information, and recommends solutions. May be eligible for delegated signature authority. Completes and approves transactions for signature by manager or other authorized institutional official. Provides high quality analytical and administrative support to sponsored projects staff. In coordination with the sponsored projects teams, the subaward team, and other units within Office of Research, the Contract and Grant Analyst is responsible for proposal and award intake and review with an emphasis on timely preliminary review of proposals and awards; preparation and dissemination of internal and external forms; preparation of correspondence; administrative review of regulatory approvals such as COI/IRB/IACUC; audit checks and entity checks of subrecipients; processing proposal denials; and facilitating/follow up on award closeout reports.
