Summary

APS Palo Verde is looking fora Nuclear Regulatory Affairs (Licensing & Compliance) Summer Intern to join their team in Tonopah, AZ.

The APSNuclear Regulatory Affairs (Licensing & Compliance) Summer Intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience, developing, practicing, and learning business, engineering, information systems, and fundamentals within the Nuclear Regulatory Affairs organization. Students will apply their knowledge and problem solving abilities in support of long-term station licensing projects and ensuring station compliance with federal regulations. This internship is designed to provide exposure to the regulatory landscape, licensing processes, and the day-to-day activities involved in ensuring nuclear facility compliance.

The Palo Verde Summer internship is a paid 10 week program starting in May, ending in July. Qualified students will receive housing during the program

During the 10 weeks at Palo Verde the intern will be equipped with the tools needed to thrive and be challenged with meaningful individual and group projects.They will get support from leaders who will help them succeed. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in a New Hire Orientation, Professional Development opportunities and company tours to learn more about Palo Verde and Arizona Public Service.

Minimum Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university undergraduate program in an engineering discipline or related applied science discipline.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

Major Accountabilities

1) Performs simple to intermediate analysis and designs. May assist in preparing business/engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations and studies.

2) Assists in research, business documentation, studies or technical reviews. Conducts analyses, investigations, verifications and summarizes results or findings in written reports or oral presentations.

3) Utilizes internal resources to learn business/engineering operations/functions and apply learning in completion of work assignments.

4) Coordinates efforts with other disciplines, and/or departments in achieving project goals and task assignments.

5) Performs other related duties as required.

Nuclear Requirement

Any PVGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. Any PVGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from:



  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.
