This role is a Senior Production Manager position on the reprint team, working primarily with Adult Trade and Mass Market titles. This role's primary focus will be management of the Adult Trade and Mass Market reprint lists and reprint production team.

The Senior Production Manager will delegate reprint assignments, submit reprint orders, track orders in progress, run estimates, review quality on completed samples, and work closely with both vendors and our internal departments. They will oversee a team of two and provide support, guidance, and coverage for this team as needed. The Senior Production Manager will be expected to learn the workflows for and support the Macmillan Children's Publishing Group (MCPG) reprint team on occasion. The Senior Production Manager will also work with Reprint Production, First Print Production, and other departments to develop, trial, and document new protocols and processes as needed.

The Senior Production Manager must have a strong background in and knowledge of book production. They must be able to execute requests quickly, communicate with all levels of the company, work with all members of the department, and create clear and concise reports.

What you'll do:



  • Oversee the reprint title list and the Adult Trade and Mass Market reprint lists and reprint production team
  • Act as the key point of contact for specific queries regarding assigned imprints within the Adult Trade and Mass Market groups.
  • Manage reprint orders of 1-color and 4-color titles (including, but not limited to gathering costs, issuing purchase orders, routing and reviewing outgoing files for corrections, tracking schedules, reviewing digital and physical proofs, and addressing quality issues)
  • Prepare for and attend weekly interdepartmental meetings
  • Prepare assignments for direct reports
  • Create margin estimates for offset and digital reprints
  • Develop and document workflows
  • Code vendor invoices for payment

Ideal Experience:



  • 7+ years production experience
  • Experience with 1-color and 4-color book production
  • Office experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

This role will have an annual salary of $85,000 - $95,000.
