In this role, you will work under the general supervisor of the Chief Radiation Therapy Technologist and your functions will include:
* Applying ionizing radiation according to MD's prescription
* Patient scheduling and appointments
* Performing dose calculations
* Treatment data entry
* Working with physicians, physicists and dosimetrists to perform simulations and treatment planning CT's
This position will be working in both Westwood and Santa Monica locations, as well as other future sites as assigned. *May be hired as Radiation Therapist if less than 5 years of experience.
Qualifications Required:
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification
  • California State License in Radiation Therapy
  • 5 or more years radiation therapy experience
  • BLS/CPR from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Ability to appropriately interact with and provide special assistance to various age groups of patients, i.e., pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Knowledge of required response to internal and external disaster procedures as well as fire and life safety.
  • Skill in working with different types of treatment machines such as MR Scanner, CT Scanner, HDR units and Linear Accelerators and ability to recognize when hazardous conditions may exist.Ability to lift cerrobend blocks weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Knowledge of basic physics as applicable to Radiation Therapy.
  • Ability to use an electronic calculator to perform dose calculations.Knowledge of a variety of treatment techniques to assist physicians in treatment planning to ensure optimum treatment is given to all patients.
  • Skill in recognizing and reporting any adverse patient therapy reactions.
  • Knowledge of the principles and applications of thermo-luminescent dosimeters.
  • Skill in reading documents written with medical terminology and ability to read and implement computer-generated physics treatment plans.
  • Knowledge of basic nursing procedures.
  • Working knowledge of University procedures regarding isolation of immuno-suppressed patients.
