We're on the hunt for a Perfumer Assistant to join our RE-MASTER Citrus team at the freshly inaugurated Citrus Innovation Center located in Lakeland, Florida.
IFF's Re-Master programs accelerate innovation to capture unmet opportunities in the changing fragrance market. Based on a combination of future trends analysis, consumer insights, and a modernized cross-category development process, the programs guide the Company's research and development efforts to ensure an innovation pipeline.

Your Focus
As a Perfumer Assistant, you will work under the instruction of creative perfumers to independently make, analyze, and record fragrance formulations in company systems. With a passion for exploring new scents, you will work in a citrus-dedicated team environment, assisting our creative teams to enhance their existing product line and successfully launch new products in the marketplace. This is an exciting opportunity for a starter who is looking to advance their career with one of the largest and most innovative fragrance creation houses in the world.
This role requires strong organizational and time management skills!

How you will Contribute
* Have a Fascination for Fragrance.
* Understand and conduct the entire formulation process, including accurate compounding of fragrances, raw material handling, measuring physical properties, and computer entry of formulations and specifications.
* Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products to ensure smooth laboratory operations.
* Maintain laboratory conditions, manage, and transfer raw materials and fragrance stocks.
* Observe laboratory and plant safety rules and GMPs.
* Interface with R&D and other IFF departments as necessary for completion of job tasks.
* Perform basic to advanced laboratory processes required for preparation of intermediates and finished fragrances.
* Collaborate with Creative Teams
* Set up scent evaluations.
* Set up and run product stability tests.
* Support customer visits. Interact with sales/customers during project execution.
* Environmental Responsibility: Ensure that all laboratory practices are environmentally sustainable and comply with relevant regulations.
* Ensure all activities are in line with IFF policies and Global Innovation Rules, as well as safety, hygiene, and efficient day-to-day operations of the fragrance creation laboratory and facilities. Commitment to all company policies, rules, regulations, and IFF quality is an absolute must.

Job Requirements

  • Associates or 4-year degree in Chemistry or related disciplines
  • A minimum of 2-5 years laboratory or chemical industry work experience, coupled with a strong desire and ability to continue education and professional development and growth.
  • Experience in a Fragrance Lab: Experience in a fragrance lab or related product development lab is considered a plus.
  • Drive for Results: Taking ownership and not afraid to go the "extra mile."
  • Strong Computer Skills is a must: Microsoft Office, Proficiency in SAP (consider a plus), and other IFF systems as introduced and required.
  • Strong Practical Math Skills: Ability to calculate and prepare dilutions of fragrance materials, fragrance creations, and applications.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to interact productively on an internal/external basis. Additional languages desirable.
  • Sensory Discrimination: Ability to smell and discriminate sensory properties of fragrances and applications.
  • Collaboration: Ability and willingness to collaborate.
  • Well-Organized Self-Starter: Desire to develop new skills and take initiative.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products to ensure smooth laboratory operations.
  • Good Prioritization and Planning: Strong time management and organizing skills.
  • Must be able to maintain and keep organized notes.
  • Must be able to keep a clean workspace.
