Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty members tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a tenure-track researcher to join the Division of Infectious Diseases/Department of Internal Medicine. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

The Division of Infectious Diseases is actively recruiting a tenure-track researcher with expertise in the area of M. tuberculosis and/or other pathogens of public health significance. Serves as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on sponsored research grants and on original research projects; conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies in the area of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and/or other pathogens of public health significance, including drug susceptibility testing, drug resistance, vaccine development, cancer treatment and other areas of complex research; develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain funding to support research program; secures and maintains NIH RO1 or equivalent funding; writes and publishes research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals; attends and makes presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation; instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participates in division, department, college and university committees and initiatives.

Division Overview

The Division of Infectious Diseases is led by Division Director Susan L. Koletar, MD and is comprised of 26 faculty and 4 advanced practice providers. The Division is committed to providing comprehensive patient care, engaging in high quality research and offering innovative medical education to medical students, post-doctoral trainees and professional colleagues. Approximately 8,800 consults were seen last year for patients with a wide range of serious and life-threatening infections. The division has five consult services: 2 general ID services, transplant (solid organ), James, OSU East Hospital and an overflow service. Our two-year ACGME accredited Fellowship Program prepares trainees to be consultants in infectious diseases, with fundamental training for a career in academic infectious diseases. Division faculty also have leadership roles in Medical Center-supported programs such antimicrobial stewardship, clinical epidemiology, and OPAT. The Infectious Diseases Clinical Trials Unit, a National Institutes of Health-designated research site for the treatment of HIV and AIDS, and continuously funded since 1987, anchors a robust research program. Clinical and scholarly activities are enhanced through collaborations with a number of internal and external partners, including the Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity, College of Public Health, Columbus Public Health and Nationwide Childrens Hospital.

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research. Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care. Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
