Palliative Physician; Inova Schar Cancer

The Inova Schar Cancer (ISC) and the Palliative Medicine & Comprehensive Care program at Inova are seeking a Hospice and Palliative Medicine BC/BE physician to join our team in the outpatient setting. The ISC is the largest multi-disciplinary cancer physician program in the Washington, D.C. area, with disease expert physicians collaboratively caring for patients. The cancer program also includes the nationally renowned Life With Cancer program which provides comprehensive psycho-social support to cancer patients and their families. The Palliative Medicine team at Inova's flagship hospital, Inova Fairfax Medical Center, consists of an interdisciplinary team including 4 physicians, 3 nurse practitioners, 3 social workers, a chaplain, and program manager. Our comprehensive, expert team provides specialty consultation throughout the 912-bed hospital campus.

We aim to enhance and embed the provision of palliative care in our cancer program through expert patient care and program development. Palliative care not only improves the quality of life of our patients but can also the length of life in cancer patients. Me aim to improve health outcomes by providing effective, efficient care that is patient and family centered.

Strengths of the Palliative Care program include: Critical support from institutional leadership based upon repeated demonstration of quality and financial outcomes, highly motivated and high functioning collaborative IDT, respect and rapport of palliative care across the hospital community, routine collection of operational data, strong grants department to assist with grant funding opportunities, a leader who desires to foster growth and meet the unique professional development needs of each team member.

Requirements:

-BC / BE in Palliative Care
-Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Virginia
-Credentialed by the INOVA Health System
