Job Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor (Warehouse) is responsible for overseeing warehouse and storage facilities, loading and unloading custodial supplies, ensuring that supplies and related documentation are prepared on time and accurately, ensuring that regulatory requirements are met. It is the supervisor' s responsibility to lead during turnarounds/in a specific area/on specific task while ensuring safety, security, and to ensure operational performance is maintained in accordance with Northwestern policies and values.

Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday - Friday 7:30AM to 4:00PM

Pay: The pay range for this Warehouse Supervisor position is $23.95 to $26.34 per hour depending on experience, skills, and internal equity.

Responsibilities:

(40%) Inventory Management

  • Organize and maintain inventory and storage area.
  • Ensure shipments and inventory transactions are accurate
  • Maintain item records, document necessary information and utilize reports to project warehouse status and supply needs.
  • Assist and maintain appropriate inventory levels and product loss controls

(40%) Supervision

  • Lead and develop a warehouse team to deliver unparallelled customer service.
  • Assist in special projects, performing general labor to support operation requirements as needed

(10%) Custodial Operations and Services

  • Fulfill daily work order requests
  • Interface with departments to answer questions or solve problems
  • Identify areas of improvement and establish innovative work procedures and practices, adjusting existing procedures/practices as needed
  • Manage day-to-day operations of warehouse department.
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy in daily department operations.
  • Drive compliance with safety, quality, and productivity goals, in support of warehouse leadership team objectives.
  • Perform sweeping, mopping, dusting racks as well as interior and building maintenance
  • Process trash removal and box scraps with a compactor
  • Operate floor scrubber (electric or propane) and other equipment.

(10%) Other projects and duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent is required.
  • All Maintenance Supervisors must meet eligibility requirements for Certified Drivers: 1) Have a valid driver's license; 2) Have a driving record with no more than one major moving violation or one accident in the past year (whether damaged caused either to or by the vehicle), and 3) Have a driving record with no serious events. Serious events include but are not limited to any alcohol or drug related offense(s), failure to report an accident, and operating during a period of license suspension or revocation.   • Minimum of 3 years' work experience in general maintenance, building maintenance, renovation, or construction. University housing general maintenance work experience is preferred.
  • Must have the physical skills and endurance to move about campus and the buildings in order to fulfill daily maintenance tasks and activities.
  • Knowledge and experience with various cleaning products and equipment in field.
  • Must have familiarity of safety requirements and precautions and able to set examples for proper safety measurements for employees.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good communications skills with a good command of the English language
  • Fluency in Spanish, or other language, is helpful but not required.
  • Some trade school/training is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or lead general maintenance work experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to: stand for up to 7.5 hours, bend, climb, stoop, manipulate and operate moderately heavy equipment, climb up to 5 flights of stairs at one time, kneel, reach/extend to reach ceilings and corners, push/pull carts and vacuums.
  • Ability to lift and/or move items weighing up to 50lb.
  • Ability to transport items outdoors during all types of weather
  • Ability to perform cleaning of bodily fluids
