Global Category manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support regional/global sourcing initiatives either under the leadership of a regional/global Category Manager or independently if under a defined threshold. Each day, you will purchase materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule, and terms. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring the purchase activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures.
The work model for the role is hybrid.
This role is contributing to the Process Automation Measurement & Analytics division in {insert region}. Main stakeholders are {insert main stakeholder groups if available}.
You will be mainly accountable for:
*Supporting the development and implementation of regional/global sourcing strategies in close alignment with the regional/global category leader.
*Negotiating agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renewing price lists and terms and conditions.
*Running benchmark studies for the Category team and for specific sourcing initiatives.
*Creating local contract amendments to frame agreements on behalf of a country and updates/maintains frame contracts.

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Production/Operations management, Supply Chain or closely related field required.
  • 8+ years of experience in sourcing and supply chain management, working as category buyer, category responsible for Mechanical, metallic, C&F preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of procurement systems, processes, and practices and the Mechanical / Metallic / Casting & Forgings/ Plastic market.
  • Knowledge of SAP Ariba is a plus.
  • Fluent in English, written and oral.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
