PURPOSE:

Quality Control, testing landscape and team management for industrial Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) systems. Management of testing competence for Business systems, Operational technology, and Automation control systems. Responsible for competence, coordination and management of Quality Control, Test Planning, Testing, Regression, and emulation runs.

Candidate must provide competence & experience of managing test planning, emulation testing, technical/functional validation of business & automation systems, governance of production and lower environments, and managing release plans. With an objective to deliver QC services in a dynamically changing, live and working industrial production environment. Meet technology implementation and software quality benchmarks established for the business.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Overall responsibilities are the following:

  • Manage emulation startup for all QA components/integrations, and ensure all automated processes are executing properly for emulation validation.
  • Coordinate data backups and data edits to support emulation runs.
  • Oversee and coordinate software release installations with various vendors and cross-functional teams.
  • Track performance KPIs from emulation runs, analyze data to determine performance gains/losses, and provide recommendations to operational teams following analysis.
  • Monitor real-time emulation performance and troubleshoot/intervene as needed.
  • Competent in Quality Control and Test planning for Business systems and Operational technology in production environment.
  • Work with, communicate, and coordinate between different functional teams (possibly various functions and of different objectives).
  • Document cases and scenarios for production/lower-level defects and with Jira as the underlying platform.
  • Attend and contribute to defect resolution triage calls with various vendors, and work with vendors to correct defects.
  • Responsible for unit testing, smoke testing, and regression testing in lower environments.
  • Review test results and observed behaviors to determine if the software is acceptable to "pass" quality assurance standards. If software is deemed unacceptable, communicate these poor standards and reasoning to the appropriate vendor and work with vendor to jointly develop acceptable version.
  • Consult with departments that frequently utilize the software being tested to understand operational use. Develop and adapt testing based on the user feedback and expectations.
  • Constantly adapt testing based on new system defects or deliverables with software. Utilize critical and out of the box thinking to identify new or creative ways to test that aren't outline in software release notes.
  • Triage for software issues in lower-level environments and work cross-functionally to resolve them.
  • Communicate release note results and test information to relevant operation teams and work with operational teams to address results.
  • Work cross-functionally with operation and automation teams to understand the different components of the automated systems.

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Necessary to perform the requirements of the position:

  • Education - Engineering or business degree and certification in Information Technology, Software Engineering or related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience - Minimum three (3) years of terminal operating technology experience - TBA Controls emulation experience is preferred.
  • Operational Technology and integration experience is preferred. Kalmar/Navis experience is preferred.
  • Skills - the following are strongly recommended/critical:
    • Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Test planning & Defect management software tools and applications.
    • ITIL lifecycle and certification is preferred.
    • Experience with Marine Terminal Operations System (TOS) is a plus.
    • Dependable ability to be self-driven and lead complex programs independently. Competent in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, navigating ambiguity with ease.
    • Understanding & competence in automation & systems application implementation.
    • Experience in Release Management, Version control, and rollouts.
    • Understanding of Continuous Improvement/LEAN/Six Sigma.
    • Experience with management and allocation of work across functional & geographical teams.

Salary Range: $125,000-145,000.00

*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
