As the Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for compiling, recording and processing payroll accurately, while providing excellent customer service to our employees. This role must ensure that payroll taxes are being withheld accurately, and that all payroll laws, regulations, and company policies are being followed.

Essential Job Functions


  • Performs bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Ensures that all timecards are complete, look correct, and are signed off by supervisor/manager.
  • Verify that temp labor timecards are accurate and sent to temp agencies timely.
  • Ensures that information within HRIS is complete and accurate to ensure that employees' pay is distributed to the correct accounts (direct deposit or pay card).
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including legally required tax forms and all records showing deviations.
  • Respond to employees' inquiries regarding paychecks and statements.
  • Assists with semi-annual audits on payroll records.
  • Reconcile the general ledger for payroll records.
  • Identify and resolve complex payroll issues.
  • Coordinates reports and additional information to accounting firm and management personnel in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.



Requirements

  • Please note: This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR), as such, applicants must be a U.S. person defined as a citizen, national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.
  • A.S degree in Business, Finance or equivalent work experience.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of payroll experience preferred.
  • Must be both strategic and tactical with strong initiative.
  • Needs to have thorough knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Teams and HRIS systems.
  • Must have advanced HRIS (multiple systems and PayCom preferred) and Excel skills (including Pivot Tables and VLookup).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

The physical demands represent those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing this job's duties, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to type, write, drive, or use tools; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and move 15 to 25 pounds. The employee must demonstrate the ability to meet these physical demands within their 60-day probationary period.
