Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Position Summary
Verify the readiness and satisfactory physical condition of all portable fire extinguishers and Automated External Defibrillators located throughout campus (and some directly adjacent areas). Inspect each extinguisher (may exceed 300 individual extinguishers monthly) and/or AED on a monthly basis. Results of the inspection are recorded both on a physical tag affixed to each extinguisher and barcode-scanned into a specialized tracking system. Work hours are generally flexible, but assigned tasks will be completed within the monthly time frame allotted.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Possess excellent communication skills to ensure that building occupants understand the purpose of their visit, and also maintain the tracking database for accuracy and reporting purposes.
Physical Demands
The worker will drive state-owned vehicles, access secured areas, and may occasionally have to climb ladders or enter mechanical areas to reach extinguishers in those respective locations.
