Department Overview
The Retirement Administration Service Center (RASC) counsels members of the University as they transition into retirement and provides long-term pension and retirement health benefits support.

Position Summary
Utilizes skills and experience as a seasoned professional with a comprehensive understanding of employee benefits practices, retirement payroll systems, and University policies and procedures. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions and developing recommendations related to employee benefits programs and retirement payroll management, where analysis of situations and data requires a review of various factors. General instructions may be provided on new assignments, projects, and initiatives. Please note this is a hybrid position with three days a week on site.

Key Responsibilities

25% Employs an understanding of professional benefits concepts, policies, and procedures to tackle questions and resolve problems.

10% Coordinates with retirement payroll staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for retirees and beneficiaries.

15% Collaborates effectively with colleagues throughout the organization to prioritize and finish various tasks punctually.

10% Helps with reconciliation of payroll data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

10% Prioritizes work assignments, analyzes various benefit programs including retirement payroll, and develops recommendations.

10% Performs manual calculations for payroll-related tasks such as minimum required distributions, refunds, interest, and adjustments to post-retirement benefits.

10% Prepares and analyzes payroll reports, using advanced Excel skills to manage and interpret data effectively.

10% Engages in quality assurance activities, including internal audits and the evaluation of customer satisfaction metrics.

Experience
Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

Skills and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications

Shows strong analytical skills to analyze data and make recommendations, highlighting organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Establishes and builds rapport/relationships with members and colleagues within and outside of RASC

Ability to perform manual calculations, for example (but not limited to): benefit deductions, minimum required distributions, refunds, interest, and post-retirement benefit adjustments.

Demonstrated knowledge; able to quickly learn new software; Microsoft Suite

Willingness to take initiative and work independently.

Strong mathematical skills.

The University of California, Office of the President, is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range shows the growth potential for this position and the pay scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
