Assistant Supervisor (Second Shift)

Job Summary

It's an exciting time to become a part of IFF! We are currently looking for a Assistant Supervisor at our Flavors plant in South Brunswick, NJ. As the Assistant Supervisor, you will be responsible for 10+ direct reports and the daily operations in On time performance, Quality & Safety that create Taste products for our customers on a global scale. 2rd Shift 3pm to 12am

Job Responsibilities

Process

  • Supervise and assure the full implementation of the safety and food safety standards within all production units. food safety/general safety scores & near miss program. Identify deficiencies, communicate and execute corrective actions.
  • Manage/oversee production area throughout shift, ensuring production team is operating efficiently and effectively.
  • Understand all aspects of the process. Make and fill batches as per specification, 25% of the time.
  • Collaborate with the quality department to monitor the various aspects of manufacturing to ensure final product meets set specification.
  • Ensure that all production documents are maintained, kept according to the retention policy.
  • Lead the investigation for deviations events related to the production and align with the quality team on the proper CAPA
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external food production regulations and legislation.
  • Supervise and motivate work crew, coordinate and maintain process flow to ensure daily production targets are achieved.
  • Monitor ZPro/ Oflow to confirm all daily orders are completed as per end dates, meeting On-Time-Performance targets.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment and production devices are maintained, calibrated and in the best conditions.. Communicate with Maintenance as needed to ensure uptime of production equipment.
  • Communication with WH personnel to request / satisfy any enquiry related to the production department.
  • Communicate & coordinate with office staff accordingly. Provide rapid responses and solutions to escalated issues and urgent customer demands.
  • Identify and supervise the implementation of continuous improvement (6S) projects.
  • Present daily shift report for production supervisor addressing all aspects of volume, safety, and quality details.
  • Communicate and execute through IFF Operating System. Lead shop floor tier meetings.

People

  • Develop and motivate the individuals on your team to ensure that individual goals are met and aligned with the goals of the group. Provide training to operators as needed.
  • Assign roles to production staff according to their competence and work demand.
  • Support Production operators with required supplies & PPE (blades, gloves), parts and equipment.
  • Review department timecards as necessary to process payroll on time.
  • Manage floor processes & properly track/implement department overtime.
  • Organize, track & finalize all PTO requests for Production operators.
  • Prepare and provide counseling records and performance evaluations.
  • Utilize HR self-service portal (People Connect) to enter tickets and help resolve basic HR/payroll & general inquiries.

  • Read, Collect, and Analyze analytical data from the process-based areas to help make process flow decisions. Utilize analytical lab equipment such as particle size analyzer, pH meter, densitometer, etc.
  • Upon completion of batches, ensures timely backflushing of materials to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Operates electric and/or gas sit down and electric reach trucks as required.
  • Microsoft Office Proficient
  • Individual must have good working knowledge of GMP's, HACCP, SAP, Excel, inventory control and maintain highest levels of sanitation in and around their work area.
  • Push/pull 400 pound drums and lift 100 pound bags as required.
  • Compare information on ZFIS to ensure proper packaging and amount of material against customer orders.
  • Mechanical knowledge.

Required Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Food or Chemical manufacturing plant as lead for the production.
  • Experience working with SAP
  • Familiar with OSHA requirements.
  • Experience in continuous improvement projects.
