THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will operate and maintain boiler/boilers in accordance with manufacturer's instructions to meet the steam demands of the Center. Work includes safely operating, regulating, and maintaining the following equipment necessary for the generation of steam: feed water pumps; forced draft fans; condensate return pumps; fuel oil pumps; air compressors; water softeners; chemical feed pumps; air dryers; PRV stations; and pressure, level, and temperature controls.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hour workweek.
  • Hours of work:
    • Position #1: 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm shift
    • Position #2: Relief Operator which is the swing shift between 1st shift (7:00 am to 3:00 pm), 2nd shift (3:00 pm to 11:00 pm), and 3rd shift (11:00 pm to 7:00 am).
  • Work schedule is Sunday - Saturday, with rotating days off.
  • No unpaid lunch break for employees in these positions.
  • Overtime as needed.
  • May change based on operational needs.

  • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (commonwealth title); or
    • One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or
    • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.

    Special Requirement:

    • You must possess an active Class C motor vehicle license.

    • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Legal Requirements:

    • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
