Job Summary

Central Washington University is recruiting a Procurement & Supply Specialist 1 to join our CWU Facilities team in Ellensburg, Washington. This role is an important member of our team as they purchase materials in support of maintenance and education activities across the University. The role is a campus-based position, which means you get to see the lives you are impacting. We're offering a salary, depending on experience, from $42,696 - $56,880 annually plus the awesome CWU benefits.

The Procurement and Supply Specialist I interacts daily with the maintenance trades. People skills are welcomed. Our team is valued by every department across campus. The Role:

Responsible for procurement functions for the trades and other CWU departments. Includes purchasing materials, equipment, supplies and services of a specialized or complex nature in accordance with prescribed purchasing regulations and procedures. Training for use of credit cards and regulatory requirements, use of enterprise application(s) for documentation, as well as operating a forklift will be provided and successful completion required within 4 months of hire. Responsible for maintaining acceptable and accurate inventory levels. Additionally, responsible for performing receiving, mail, and warehouse functions and ability to operate forklifts and related equipment. Job Duties

- Request quotes and place orders according to specifications. Purchases will be made according to State and Federal regulations and CWU quality standards.
- Coordinate and/or expedite materials, quantities, and delivery dates.
- Prepare, review, and analyze purchase requisitions, investigate and develop sources of supplies, prepare bid specifications, issue bid requests and review quotations, and interpret purchasing procedures to departments.
- Document purchase orders in AIM.
- Release at front counter stock purchases and disbursement of special orders (parts, equipment, etc.)
- Maintain and reconcile monthly Pro Card purchases according to CWU purchasing and financial policies and procedures.
- Assist with annual Central Stores stock inventory. Assist with keeping stock items and parts in an organized manner and in a safe and clean environment.
- Receive and distribute merchandise to work orders for the trades or to stock inventory.
- May perform the functions of shipping/receiving, such as unloading/loading incoming/outgoing freight, reconciling incoming freight to shipping/delivery paperwork, delivery of merchandise and equipment to the CWU community, returning damaged and/or incorrect merchandise, and other shipping/receiving functions.
- May perform warehouse/delivery functions/forklift operation
- Effectively communicate and maintain positive working relations with faculty, staff, students, and the campus community as well as Facilities Management Department (FMD) management team. Perform work in a manner that provides excellent service with nominal to no inconvenience or disruption for the client. Perform quality work that meets or exceeds the expectation and satisfaction of the client.
- Perform work using Best Practices while maintaining compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain a standard of excellence for both work processes and outcomes with a strong emphasis on customer service. Ensure a positive customer service interface is provided.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Relevant purchasing, inventory or warehouse experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (or similar) software.
  • Experience interpreting policies and procedures.
  • Must pass forklift operator training and operate forklift(s) safely within 4 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and experiences.
  • OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in related discipline, such as business or retail management.
  • Experience with Washington State purchasing rules and regulations.
  • Experience with using a ProCard, Corporate Card, etc.
  • Life experiences that demonstrate an ability to contribute to CWU's commitment to inclusion and diversity.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary: This position is based on the range 41 of the Washington State Classification Listing, which has a minimum annual salary of $42,696 and maximum annual salary of $56,880. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Schedule/Appointment: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch) Mandatory Inventory - 1 Saturday per year / WFSE Bargaining Unit 1

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required. This position may work indoors and outdoors at times in hot/cold/noisy/dirty/wet/confined areas such as mechanical rooms, manholes and excavations, and may need to physically access work areas with the equipment and tools necessary for completion of the job. This often requires standing/crawling/bending/walking/climbing while carrying/pulling/pushing/lifting associated with equipment or tools. Occasional overtime is required, and shift work may be required. May need to drive a service vehicle in congested areas.
