The Hicks Laboratory is situated in the Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center providing several opportunities for collaborative stem cell and regenerative research and access to shared research facilities. The UC Irvine Muscle Biology and Disease working group brings together 15 research and clinical science laboratories for additional expertise in skeletal muscle. A number of other fantastic centers throughout UC Irvine including the NSF-Simons Center for Multiscale Cell Fate Research provide a community for early career scientists to engage in cutting-edge research

Your Role on the Team

The overall goal of our research is to develop stem cell treatments and gene therapies for neuromuscular disease. We apply emerging technologies to improve muscle diseases from clinical samples, use mouse models to identify mechanisms of muscle regeneration, and generate skeletal muscle human pluripotent stem cells for disease modeling. SRA will engage in team science projects to assist graduate students, postdocs, and PI with research. SRA will train to use cutting edge research equipment in the stem cell center and across campus to implement new techniques for lab members. SRA will perform cell culture, help maintain a mouse colony, and train undergraduates to perform lab maintenance.
Please see https://hickslab.org/ for more details on the lab and research projects.
