Summary of Job Duties:*Monitors financial performance of the School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences (SAFHS) by researching and analyzing financial data.
* Creates financial reports for SAFHS administration, including comparison reports actual vs. budgeted revenue and expense.
* Administers all reporting activities for SAFHS, including oversight of the collection and filing of state and federal reports and other required documents, and auditing of financial reports.
* Articulate financial position of SAFHS to Dean and leadership team.
* Maintains financial data and prepares financial reports for management and administration as requested.
* Perform general accounting duties such as account reconciliations, preparing and maintaining various accounting records, making general ledger journal entries, and may be required to substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents and reconciling financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
* Other duties may be assigned by the Dean and in support of the Controller's Office that may require additional learning associated with other key functional areas. Qualifications:

Qualification

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems. Ability to develop and maintain manual or automated accounting systems. Ability to interpret and apply the provisions of laws, rules, or policies to accounting transactions. Ability to analyze financial information and prepare reports. Ability to provide technical assistance to management, research investigators, staff, and the general public regarding accounting operations.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or closely related discipline plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field.

Other qualifications - Strong Excel spreadsheet skills, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities; Ability to speak & write clearly & communicate ideas successfully; Ability to organize, plan, & prioritize work; Ability to attend to details while simultaneously handling multiple projects; Ability to analyze, interpret, & apply relevant regulations, policies, & procedures; Initiative to learn & maintain current knowledge in area of assignment; and Physical & mental ability to effectively perform duties & responsibilities related to the job, which may include long & irregular hours of work.

Additional Information:

Preferred Qualifications: Experience using Workday or a similar accounting system to perform accounting and financial functions. State government or Higher Education experience dealing with financial accounts.
