Position Summary

The School of Professional Studies is seeking an Academic Advisor to support students in the Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies (DAUS) throughout their academic career. DAUS offers associate's and bachelor's degree programs and serves a diverse community of students including transfer students, adult learners, and veterans and active duty members of the military. The academic advisor will have a caseload and work as a part of a team to advise students on academic programs, providing information related to the curriculum and degree progress, as well as reviewing course selection and assisting with registration; help students make informed decisions about their academic and professional goals; interpret policies; facilitate access to university resources, as needed; and process transfer credit evaluations. This position will also participate in admissions events, as well as additional administrative duties.



Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Student Personnel Administration or similar degree

Required Experience:
2+ years relevant experience in student advising or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written skills. Ability to advise and provide solutions to problems. Ability to supervise staff. Proficiency using computer software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and social media platforms.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent customer service skills. Proficiency and/or familiarity with Peoplesoft software. Knowledge of student develolpment and career development theories.



Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $79,200.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
