JOB SUMMARY

The 3rd Shift Production Supervisor works in a manufacturing environment leading, training and coaching personnel in all production related activities. This person assures activities are maintained in accordance with all Safety policies and procedures. Scope of functions include PVC Sheet Extrusion Lines, Material Compounding, Grinding and Assembly operations. The responsibility of ensuring production schedules and standards meet expectation is inherent to this position. This person communicates with other company supervisors and managers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Oversee a cross functional team with varied production functions
  • Designate staff across work areas while adhering to Westlake polices
  • Arrange to assure shift coverage (e.g., when employees take time off)
  • Help to resolve on the job challenges
  • Track/record daily production metrics
  • Manage physical inventory counts of packaging and supplies
  • Open or Close facility during stop/start events
  • Communicate with prior and next Shift Supervisors
  • Evaluate and communicate maintenance needs to maintain operations
  • Assist site management in completion of incident reports and investigations
  • Conduct shift trainings on Westlake safety policies and procedures
  • Be a liaison for new hire/visitor safety orientation
  • Report attendance and vacation requests to maintain accurate payroll
  • Train and certify mobile equipment operators
  • Evaluate demonstrated job performance
  • Conduct gemba walks and address findings with site management
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed
  • Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility
  • Analyze root cause of near miss incidents

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong professional communication skills, both oral and in writing
  • Ability to lead a multifunctional team
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills, detailed oriented, self-motivated, and ability to multi-task
  • Familiarity with safety programs
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish, preferred
  • Must be able to work a 3rd Shift: 7pm-7am 2/2/3 rotation
  • Must be able to commute to our Westfield, MA plant daily

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in a relevant field
  • 1 - 2 years of Supervisory experience

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Prolonged standing or in stationary position
  • Complete repetitive movements such as typing
  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that may require hearing protection
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (footwear, hearing, vision, and hardhat protection)
  • Ability to lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
