SUMMARY

Provide leadership, mentoring and training to the plant's purchasing organization. Identify and implement best in class sourcing practices which align to regional and corporate objectives. Supports centralized procurement policies and practices for the corporation. Responsible for the procurement of designated materials, services and supplies per department guidelines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides leadership, mentoring and training to the plant's procurement organization under a direct and indirect reporting structure.
  • Understand applicable company policy and insure personal and team compliance including the procurement policy and procedures, Sox controls and DOA.
  • Supervises team members/performs supplier quoting, negotiations, supplier sourcing and contracts aligning to corporate sourcing strategies.
  • Directs team members and performs analysis of bid results and recommend optimized supply chain plans which maximize the total value creation for the company.
  • Direct, develop and execute master agreements within SAP and monitor on a regular basis, actual purchases (in both quantity and value) vs. budgeted.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of existing purchasing activities, procedures and processes across the business units.
  • Implement, track and drive improvement in personal and team objectives using key performance indicators. Manage personal and team objectives to insure the KPI's are met.
  • Support and/or negotiate annualized contracts for requirements of the business units and conduct routine (annual) bid processes for supplies and services required by the plant. Coordinate purchasing negotiations with facility personnel and corporate purchasing management.
  • Communicate routinely both internally and externally to identify new/improved supplier products and services which reduce the company's overall economic cost position.
  • Support and/or establish a preferred supply base and manage via supplier relationship management programs, including supplier scorecards/reviews to drive continuous improvement. Take appropriate actions with suppliers to ensure that agreed upon rebates, discounts, etc. are received.
  • Drive supply chain efficiency through identification and implementation of best practices including the automation of repeatable spend.
  • Any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Engineering, business or related field.
  • Minimum 9 years of relevant experience in Procurement, preferably in manufacturing industries.
  • In depth knowledge of ERP systems. SAP is preferred.
  • Experience with ERP implementation desired.
  • Knowledge of plant purchasing, plant warehouse and contract negotiations/ management.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills, as well as effective presentation skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Power Point, Word and Excel skills. Strong analytical skills required, SAP experience is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and related indirect materials and services desired
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence all levels of employees and management, both inside the company and externally with suppliers.
  • Ability to make decisions or recommendations that are "data based" and align decisions with strategies. Considers the impacts of decisions on other parts of the organization.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
