Salary: $142,500 - $190,000 Depending on experience Summary Interface with all corporate finance and operational departments, as well as the external auditor to analyze issues, leading the team to a conclusion, and working with the external auditors to ensure conclusion of results occur prior to the financial reporting dates, refining external reporting processes, and monitoring and implementation of emerging GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Serve as a subject matter expert on US GAAP and SEC regulations for the preparation and filing of SEC reports and demonstrate a clear understanding of related authoritative literature governing financial reporting for public companies. Prepare technical accounting memos and analysis as needed. Lead the coordination and preparation of quarterly and year-end external financial reports, including business section, risk factors, footnotes and MD&A for quarterly earnings releases, 10-Qs and 10-Ks and related press releases and earnings release scripts. Prepare and maintain stock-based compensation and earnings per share. This includes being a liaison for employee related equity inquiries. Prepare and review the consolidation including elimination entries. Prepare and review the consolidated cash flow statement. Prepare the SOX planning documents. Coordinate the SOX testing and status with the Company's outsourced internal audit team. Review subsidiary monthly financial results and be a resource for technical accounting questions. Coordinate with corporate finance team, operational finance teams and external auditors regarding required financial reporting-related deliverables. Coordinate with field finance and FP&A to ensure results are reasonable and fluctuations are researched and explained in the MD&A. Provide review and support for consolidations/foreign currency translation and reporting. Assess the impact of foreign currency translation on external financial statements. Provide guidance to corporate and operational finance teams to ensure significant transactions are properly disclosed. Monitor major corporate events, including significant contracts, mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity offerings, stock based compensation and assess their accounting impact for Form 8-K and other required SEC disclosures. Assist in the reporting of the implementation of new GAAP and SEC standards, including implementation of new leasing accounting standard. Monitor and enhance formal processes to ensure that appropriate evidential support is maintained to support all disclosures in the Company's SEC filings and documenting as appropriate. Assist with the preparation of analyst presentations, ensuring they are consistent with SEC filings. Review and report on related party transactions. Participate in external reporting systems implementations, including automation efforts. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervise a team of employees. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, plus a minimum of 8 years of experience combined in public accounting and corporate technical accounting (i.e., familiarity with FASB, SEC and financial reporting experience), SEC reporting experience (10-Q's, 10-K's, 8-K's and Proxy Statements) and a minimum of 5 years of management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical Technical knowledge within construction, real estate or retail industries preferred specifically around revenue recognition, inventory, cost accounting, leasing, hedging, investments, etc. Substantial working knowledge of authoritative GAAP technical accounting research and application. Communication Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to establish strong relationships with others within and outside of the organization. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to independently determine tax compliance requirements with no supervision. Computer Skills Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Certified Public Accountant required.
