The Urgent Care APP (PA or NP) provides primary care with a focus on orthopedics with physician supervision in an urgent care setting. Within physician-physician assistant/nurse practitioner relationship, PA-Cs/NPs exercise autonomy in medical decision making and provides a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.

The Urgent Care APP (PA/NP) works closely with orthopedics and primary care medicine. Seeing regular orthopedics conditions, managing their injury and referring to orthopedic subspecialties. The Urgent Care APP will be responsible for the management of presenting primary care conditions.

This role is a part-time, .9 opportunity with primary focus at the North Memorial Blaine Urgent Care Facility. Schedule will include three 12 hour shifts weekly. Every third weekend.

COVID: Providers (PA/NP) - that will work in non-Summit locations may need to be fully vaccinated or have been granted an approved medical or religious exemption prior to start date. (These guidelines are determined by each non-Summit location and will be adhered to as appropriate.



  • Conducts physical exams, taking medical history, image interpretation and patient evaluation/care. Consults with physician as needed and refers to physicians for more complicated cases or cases that are not a routine part of an APP's scope of work.
  • Order diagnostic tests and scans and prescribes medications.
  • Administer injections, participate in suture and dressing removal and manage simple fracture management/cast application and removal.
  • Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems. Responds to emergencies including use of CPR.
  • Establishes activity and work restrictions and/or return to work plans.
  • Counsels patient/family on preventive health care, including pre and post-operative education.
  • Documents patient information and care in medical record.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
Masters of Physician Assistant (required)
Masters of Nurse Practitioner (required)
Experience
Must be a current Physician Assistant - Certified or Nurse practitioner. (preferred)
1 years: One year of experience as PA/NP, preferably in clinic or urgent care setting, preferred. Prior Orthopedic experience strongly preferred. (preferred)
