This role is an excellent opportunity to learn several valuable, cutting-edge techniques in molecular biology, virology, CRISPR gene-editing as well as proteomics while working with a dynamic and interdisciplinary research team. You will learn and apply different cellular, molecular, and biochemical assays to validate these findings. The candidate will also have the opportunity to develop and implement new protocols for gene-editing and mass spectrometry-based proteomics experiments. Working as part of the infectious biology group in the Krogan lab, you will express affinity-tagged proteins of interest, perform affinity purifications, and proximity labeling of proteins and their interactors for mass spectrometry analysis to study protein-protein interactions. Additional major responsibilities will include the preparation, sequencing, and analysis of next-generation sequencing libraries to support CRISPR screening experiments. Further responsibilities will consist of isolation and culture of primary human immune cells, as well as functional analysis of engineered cells via Sanger sequencing and flow cytometry. The projects will also involve the purification of infectious HIV and infection of T cells with HIV in a biosafety level-3 facility. Strong organizational and communication skills are required.
