Director, Financial Reporting

The Investment Manager Services Division (IMS) at SEI is growing rapidly and is seeking new members on our Financial Reporting team. Our primary goal is to provide exceptional administration services to our clients' while interacting with Fund Accounting teams, auditors, printers, and other SEI personnel.

The Financial Reporting Director is responsible for directing the overall operations functions, including all aspects of transaction initiation and service requests via multiple channels, and training through the supervision of directors, managers and supervisors to ensure the highest quality service to SEI's clients. This position is responsible for establishing, developing and implementing procedures for maintaining and/or enhancing client service and quality and for improving operational efficiency. This role is responsible for driving and formulating and/or implementing operations policies and procedures to facilitate processes according to corporate standards. The Director's responsibilities are to be carried out in a manner consistent with the vision, goals and policies of the unit. In addition, this role serves to drive change and grow the business.

What you will do:

  • As a director of the financial reporting function, you and your team will serve as points of contact for financial reporting expertise in working to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and, as necessary, will participate in preparing technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical, and all-inclusive manner.

Client Management

  • Understand, communicate and resolve unique client issues in tandem with SEI Relationship Teams
  • Ensure the overall quality and delivery of services in accordance with client-specific service model
  • Serve as senior technical and operational resource for client
  • Interact with the Board of Directors/Trustees connected to the Director's bundle of service relationships
  • Ensure the overall quality and delivery of Investor Reporting and Administrative services in accordance with client-specific service model
  • Serve as technical and operational resource for client
  • Understand, communicate and resolve unique client issues along with SEI Relationship Teams

Technical Consulting

  • Identify, interpret, apply and communicate accounting and industry rules and regulations
  • Create, communicate, monitor and reinforce departmental vision, goals and objectives
  • Actively participate in regular senior management meetings and initiatives
  • Promote integration of Fund Accounting Department with other SEI lines of business
  • Participate in management skills training and development of staff
  • Set and enforce departmental policies
  • Develop and communicate goals and objectives for the team, and formulate specific action plans.

Operational Oversight

  • Ensure premier client service that meets or exceeds client expectations
  • Monitor all current service and quality indicators and establish related goals
  • Provide daily oversight and review of significant fund level threshold deviations
  • Manage staff resources to ensure proper client coverage and service
  • Set departmental policies and procedures related to the operational control environment
  • Monitor and oversee third party vendor performance as it relates to the daily operations
  • Monitor and oversee the progress of the funds' annual audits

Departmental Leadership

  • Create, communicate, monitor and reinforce departmental vision, goals and objectives
  • Assist with the ongoing development of service capabilities for the alternative investment product offering in pace with industry demands
  • Manage and conduct the unit's weekly senior management meetings and initiatives
  • Participate in management skills training and development of staff
  • Set and enforce departmental policies
  • Establish and review prioritization of team goals and objectives and monitor progress regularly.

Sales Support

  • Write and coordinate fund accounting-related responses to RFP's and RFI's
  • Participate in site visits and presentations to prospective clients

What we need from you:

  • BS/BA degree in business, finance or related field, or the equivalent in education and work experience -MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years proven operations management experience leading multiple teams in a changing environment or 5+ years in a public accounting firm with specific experience in the financial services field.
  • Experience in Financial Report required
  • Experience with SEC, IRS, Global Regulatory Policy and Alternative Investments helpful
  • Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Significant direct, relevant experience with accounting for mutual funds, alternative investments and other unitized pooled investment vehicles
  • Strong knowledge of security trading practices in a back office environment
  • Familiarity with the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940
  • Experience in reviewing fund financial statements and an understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for investment companies and related reporting requirements
  • Proven track record of successfully managing operational teams or departments
  • Strategic thinking and demonstrated ability to initiate process changes to improve service to clients and improve operational efficiency
  • Proven ability to manage staff development and performance
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, along with the analytical skills needed to identify problems and trends
  • Proven ability to drive change and lead team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in building relationships
  • Travel may be required.

Compensation:

The base salary pay for this role is $100,750 - $150,000 per year. This position will also be eligible to earn a discretionary bonus each year, subject to company approval.
