Job Summary

The Physical Therapist 2 (PT 2) serves UC Davis Health as a journey-level therapist with two or more years of experience as a licensed Physical Therapist and experience working in a variety of clinical settings, such as Adult populations, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Neurology, Rehab, etc. The PT 2 reports to the Rehab Director for Acute Care Physical Therapy.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide evaluations of patients
  • Develop treatment plans
  • Re-evaluation of patients
  • Develop a discharge plan for patients
  • Oversee therapy services provided by Physical Therapy Assistants (PTAs)
  • Administrative responsibilities of assigned area
  • Assist as needed with scheduling therapy staff assignments/caseload
  • Miscellaneous assignments as required
  • Educational Activities

Minimum Qualifications: For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload their license, certification, and educational degree/diploma if required for the position

  • Must be a current California Licensed Physical Therapist
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Certification or UC Davis Health CPR
  • Must have graduated from an accredited physical therapy program (Bachelor's degree or higher) in the U.S., or completed requirements for foreign-trained physical therapists working in the U.S.
  • Must have several demonstrated years of clinical experience in the field of Physical Therapy
  • Must have 2 years of licensed experience working in inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing (SNF), acute care, or a long-term acute care hospital
  • Must have 1 year of demonstrated experience working with adult populations
  • Must have demonstrated experience working with neurological diagnoses
  • Must have demonstrated experience with documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Must have skills in written communication that allow for clear, concise, and well-organized conveyance of thought
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak in English

Preferred Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • 90% - Provide Physical Therapy services to complex, complicated patients of all ages in the inpatient rehabilitation setting as assigned through the Department of Physical Therapy
  • 5% - Miscellaneous assignments
  • 5% - Educational Activities

Department Overview

The primary purpose of the Joint Venture Rehabilitation Hospital is to provide a full range of rehabilitation services designed to restore patients to their optimal functional capacity. The hospital is a 52-bed rehabilitation hospital on the Sacramento Medical Center campus. It is equipped with leading-edge amenities and adaptive units where patients can practice typical activities of daily living. The rehabilitation hospital also includes a 12-bed brain injury unit and four private rooms for bariatric patients.
