JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The College of Education at Penn State invites applications for aPost-Doctoral Research Fellow position to work on with Dr. Jennifer Frank on an IES-funded CARE for Special Educators grant. This project aims to enhance the well-being, resilience, and instructional effectiveness of special education teachers by providing a mindfulness-based, emotion regulation-focused program designed to address the unique stressors these educators face.

Position Description:
ThePost-Doctoral Research Fellow will play a key role in implementing and evaluating the CARE for Special Educators project. The Fellow will collaborate with Dr. Frank and the research team to design and carry out intervention studies, manage data collection, and conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to impactful research on teacher well-being and evidence-based interventions that directly support special education professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Dr. Frank and the research team in the development and execution of the CARE intervention.
- Oversee and manage data collection processes, including participant recruitment and maintaining study records.
- Conduct and interpret quantitative analyses (e.g., using SPSS, R, or SAS) and qualitative analyses as needed.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication, research reports, and presentations for academic and practitioner audiences.
- Assist with grant reporting and project dissemination efforts.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students involved in the project.

Qualifications:
- PhD in Psychology, Special Education, Educational Psychology, School Psychology, Prevention Science, or a related field by the start date.
- Experience in conducting intervention research, preferably related to educator well-being or special education.
- Proficiency in quantitative data analysis and familiarity with statistical software (SPSS, R, or SAS).
- Strong writing and communication skills for preparing manuscripts and presenting research findings.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with mindfulness-based interventions and teacher professional development is required.

Appointment Details:
This is a full-time, one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability. The start date is flexible but is expected to begin Fall of 2024. The position includes a competitive salary, health benefits, and support for conference travel and professional development.
