GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Johnson Lab is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to join our team of research assistants. Directed by Dr. Keith Johnson, our lab is focused on the use of PET and MR imaging to investigate the molecular pathology of human brain aging and dementing disorders. We develop and validate biomarkers of normal aging and Alzheimer's disease for use in natural history studies and clinical trials to advance public health in the aging population. We are centered at the MGH Main Campus in Boston, MA.

In this role, the CRC will help conduct clinical and administrative aspects of several ongoing research studies, as well as assist with technical components of data processing and analysis as needed. These studies collect and assess clinical, neuropsychological, structural and molecular brain imaging data. The primary responsibilities of this role include interacting with participants of varying age and cognitive status both in-person and over the phone, IRB preparation and maintenance, participant recruitment, and data processing. Other responsibilities may include cognitive testing, visit coordination, operations support, and management of multi-lab collaborations. This role is ideal for someone with strong organizational and interpersonal skills who enjoys working in a dynamic clinical research environment.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Accompany research participants during on-site visits which involving explanation of study procedures, assistance with informed consent, administration of neuropsychological tests to study participants.
  • Serve as point of contact for research participants and their study partners during their involvement in complex longitudinal protocols.
  • Assist with IRB and regulatory submissions, as well as participation in compliance trainings and checks.
  • Process PET and MRI data using our standard pipelines.
  • Maintain database of study records in accordance with laboratory practice and regulatory guidelines.
  • Retrieve, organize, and transfer datasets for collaborators and ongoing projects.
  • Perform statistical analysis, modeling, and visualization of data for ongoing projects as needed.
  • Assist with additional lab tasks as needed.


SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:



  • Ability to learn new technical platforms is required as there will be training on lab-specific databases and processing pipelines. High level of organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Technical proficiency and ability to learn programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, R, SQL) and environments (e.g., Linux) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with common image processing tools (e.g., FreeSurfer, SPM, FSL, ANTs) is preferred.
  • Background in statistics and data visualization is preferred.


Qualifications

EDUCATION:



  • Bachelor's degree required.


EXPERIENCE:



  • New graduates with some relevant course/project work or those without any prior research experience will be considered for the Clinical Research Coordinator I position outlined above.
  • Those with a minimum of 1-2 years of directly related work experience will be considered for a Clinical Research Coordinator II position.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (if applicable):



  • A Clinical Research Coordinator I does not have any supervisory responsibility.
  • A Clinical Research Coordinator II may assist with the training and orientation of new staff members.
