Full-Time and Part-Time Teacher Assistant Internship Opportunities

40 hrs = (M-TU-W-TH-F 8am-4pm) flexibility available

As a TA Intern at our May Center School in Wilmington, you'll be an essential part of our mission to support individuals ages 3-21 with Autism and developmental disabilities in the classroom in achieving their goals and aspirations. From providing compassionate care to facilitating personalized assistance and engaging in skill-building activities, while working with students and using the proven methods of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), you'll be instrumental in enhancing their quality of life.

  • Collaborative Teamwork: Partner closely with lead teachers to bring individualized educational plans (IEPs) to life, ensuring each student's unique needs are met.





  • Direct Support: Provide hands-on assistance with personal care tasks and expertly manage behavioral crises, offering unwavering support to students during classroom activities to foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.





  • Positive Communication: Harness the power of positive behavior support strategies to cultivate essential social skills, enhance communication abilities, and promote independence among students.





  • Cultivating a Supportive Atmosphere: Cultivate a warm, supportive atmosphere where students feel valued, respected, and empowered to embrace their journey of learning and growth.





  • Documentation and Reporting: Thoroughly document student progress and maintain open lines of communication with parents, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring everyone is informed and involved in each student's educational journey.



Your Skills and Talents: A Winning Combination!



  • Age requirement: Must be 18 years or older to be eligible for employment





  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required





  • Driver's license: Valid and current U.S. driver's license required


  • Availability: Monday through Friday 8am-4pm (some flexibility available). FT and PT opportunities.



  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and empathy towards individuals with diverse abilities and backgrounds





  • Qualities: Reliability, compassion, and patience, coupled with a genuine passion for making a positive impact in people's lives





  • Adaptability: Ability to adjust to varying needs, preferences, and communication styles of those we support





  • Flexibility: Capacity to adapt to changing environments and respond effectively to unexpected situations
