Position description

Assistant, Associate, or Full Adjunct or In Residence Professor - Department of Neurological Surgery

The Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking a meningioma scientist for a full time faculty position. The selected candidate will be appointed at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full in the Adjunct Professor or In Residence Professor series depending on qualifications and interests.

Faculty in the Adjunct Professor series are individuals who are predominantly engaged in research or other creative work and who participate in teaching, or individuals who contribute primarily to teaching and have a limited responsibility for research and other creative work; those individuals may be professional practitioners of appropriate distinction. Appointees with titles in this series also engage in University and public service consistent with their assignments. Faculty in the In Residence Professor series are individuals who engage in teaching, research or other creative work, and University and public service to the same extent and at the same level of performance as those holding corresponding titles in the Professor series in the department. This position will be particularly focused on research of signaling pathways and cellular lineages in meningiomas, the most common primary intracranial brain tumors, and the mentorship of junior laboratory scientists who are also working in this field.

Requirements:



  • PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry or related field by the time of application.
  • Postdoctoral training in meningioma biology by the time of application.
  • Independent funding to support salary and experimentation.
  • Track record of publication in meningioma research.
  • Track record of mentorship of junior scientists working in meningioma research.


Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:



  • Extensive knowledge of laboratory biochemistry techniques, including immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, mass spectrometry, cloning, etc.
  • Working knowledge of single-cell RNA sequencing and related bioinformatic techniques.


The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $118,000 - $309,800. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
