We're looking for a Senior Packaging Engineer to lead the charge in designing packaging solutions that don't just protect - they perform. In this role, you'll oversee packaging development across multiple brands, serve as a technical subject-matter expert, and bring packaging strategy to life through thoughtful design, testing, and collaboration. You'll help shape the future of packaging at Utz Quality Foods-where creativity meets precision.

What You'll Do

• Lead packaging projects from concept to first production across diverse packaging types and formats.
• Act as the go-to technical resource for packaging design, performance, and compliance.
• Manage new item development including sourcing, pricing, and spec generation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Manufacturing, R&D, and Procurement to deliver innovative and cost-effective packaging solutions.
• Conduct packaging performance testing (ISTA/ASTM) and create palletization reports.
• Develop packaging assembly guides and manage vendor relationships.
• Champion sustainability, automation, and value engineering initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and packaging optimization on the plant floor.
• Support troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis for packaging defects.
• Stay ahead of the curve by researching new technologies, materials, and market trends.

What You Bring

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Packaging Science, Materials Engineering, or related field.
• Experience: 5-7 years in consumer-packaged goods (CPG); food & beverage experience preferred.
• Technical Skills:




• Strong knowledge of corrugated, PET, paperboard, and flexible film packaging.
• Deep understanding of packaging testing standards and equipment.

• Proven leadership and cross-functional collaboration experience.
• Strong project management skills-able to juggle multiple initiatives at once.
• Analytical thinker and confident communicator.
• Passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
