Description

Job Title: Remedial Reading and Math Instructor (Reading Specialist)

Position Summary: The Remedial Reading and Math Instructor responsibilities include diagnosing and providing remedial reading/math instruction to identified and/or referred students. Communicate with nonpublic school administrators, classroom teachers, parents, and other support staff regarding instructional goals and progress.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Select, administer, and interpret current assessment tools for school age children to accurately identify their needs. Report assessment information clearly and accurately in the Non Public School database. Follow program guidelines for qualifying children for services. This may include Title I
assessment and performance data reporting.
2. Implement systematic, differentiated instruction based upon assessed needs of identified learners.
3. Effectively collaborate with parents/guardians and outside professionals to offer support for the continued implementation of remedial services.
4. Provide professional communications including sharing and collaboration with speech clinicians, teachers, parents, principals, counselors, and SAP Team.
5. Contribute input to and make available resources for the Student Assistance Program Team members.
6. Integrate technology for both professional and student use including implementation of online data forms.
7. Participate in on-going professional development activities.
8. Develop and establish individual at-home reading and math programs.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
1. Valid PA certification in Elementary Education required
2. Valid PA certification in Reading Specialist required
3. Highly Qualified Middle School Mathematics is preferred
4. Knowledge of assessment tools: QRI 4, DIBELS Next, TOWRE, GMADE, GRADE, Reading Fluency Indicator. This is not an exhaustive list.
5. Knowledge of programs/interventions: Sonday System, Wilson Reading, RAC, Word Building, Syllasearch.
6. Ability to effectively present information and articulately respond to questions from administrators, staff, parents, students, business and educational partners, and the general public.
7. Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and an ability to work with limited supervision.
8. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
9. Ability and experience in working as a member of a team.
10. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and Outlook, and willingness to experiment and work with new technologies.
