About the Program: At the Stanislaus Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF), we provide intensive mental health and psychiatric treatment services in a safe, welcoming environment for adults experiencing a mental health emergency.

We believe recovery starts from within, and that our job is to do whatever it takes to provide the support needed on your recovery journey in a comfortable, structured environment. Our secure 16-bed facility has a multidisciplinary team that includes a psychiatrist, social workers, a rehabilitation therapist, registered nurses, recovery specialists, nurse practitioners, and peer recovery coaches.

Physician Assistant - Per diem 16 hours (8 hours a day Fri - Sat)

Compensation

Employee Expected starting wage range $79.84 - $99.80

Contractor Expected starting wage range $103.79 - $129.74

Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a senior member of the clinical team, the Physician Assistant provides direct care and medical treatment to members served.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

* Bachelor's Degree as required by the State Licensing program

* Completion of an accredited Physician Assistance program

* Licensure as a Physician Assistance in the State of practice

* Active DEA license

* Must be at least 18 years of age

* Must be CPR, First Aid, and CPI certified (hands-on course) on date of employment or prior to providing direct client care and maintain current certification throughout employment

* All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, valid driver's license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Additional regulatory, contractual, or local requirements may apply

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Demonstrates the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with internal and external stakeholders

Assessment and Diagnosis:

* Assume quality of medical care for all patients

* Utilize effective communication methods to foster the therapeutic relationship and promote positive clinical outcomes

* Gather data from multiple sources including reviews of previous medical records, psychosocial and other evaluations performed by the multidisciplinary team, and interviews of family members when available

* Document and finalize all assessments within the time frame dictated by the program

Treatment:

* Develop plan for treatment based on data gathered during assessment and input from members served as well as other sources. Ensure that the plan for treatment is in accordance with evidence based standards and practice guidelines.

* Work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary team to implement plan for treatment. The team may include various disciplines including but not limited to mental health therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dietitians, substance recovery counselors, wellness coaches, and educators.

* Refer members served for further diagnostic and laboratory testing as indicated

* Prescribe medications based on clinical indicators and results of diagnostic and laboratory testing as appropriate

* Educate members served and families about the benefits and adverse effects of prescribed treatment options

* Monitor/review progress in treatment in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team. This process may include review of relevant laboratory or other diagnostic tests, communication with multidisciplinary team members, review of daily documentation, and ongoing members served interviews

* Make necessary modifications to prescribed treatment regimen based on regular monitoring and review of progress

* Provide crisis intervention and referrals as appropriate

* Document and finalize all treatment plans within the time frame specified by the program

Discharge:

* Work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to conclude treatment when clinically indicated and transition to other levels of care as appropriate

* Make appropriate referrals to other healthcare and community resources as indicated

* Complete and sign all discharge summaries within the time frame specified by the program

Other:

* Prepare and maintain documentation, records, discharge summaries, and reports in accordance with established rules, regulations, and program guidelines

* Perform duties within Scope of Practice in accordance with professional standards, established clinical protocols, and related Federal, State, and County regulatory requirements

* Engage in ongoing education, supervision, and training as required. Be well informed on current best practice standards and guidelines in psychiatry.

* Provide industry relevant tips for the Practice Site

Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted and/or changed at the discretion of management.

SKILLS

* Must have excellent communication skills

* Bilingual a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, twist, bend, squat, kneel, pull and lift and carry items weighing 10 pounds or less as well as to frequently sit and do simple grasping. The position requires frequent manual deviation and occasional hand/wrist repetition and dexterity and to occasionally drive as well as occasional Hazardous Exposure (Blood Borne Pathogens, Hospital Waste, Chemical & Infectious). Visual requirements include close eye work (small figures).
