Job Summary:

The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Supervisor at AGI is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and repair of all ground support equipment at LAX. This role ensures that equipment is operational, safe, and compliant with all regulatory standards, while also leading a team of GSE technicians. The GSE Supervisor will coordinate repairs, preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, and ensure minimal downtime for essential airport operations. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and technical skills, with an emphasis on safety and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise GSE Technicians: Lead and manage a team of GSE technicians, ensuring they adhere to maintenance schedules and perform repairs efficiently and safely.
  • Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Oversee the maintenance, inspection, and repair of ground support equipment, including tugs, belt loaders, pushback tractors, GPUs, air start units, and other airport vehicles.
  • Preventative Maintenance Program: Ensure a proactive preventative maintenance program is in place, minimizing equipment downtime and extending the life of assets.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all equipment complies with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA). Lead regular safety inspections and maintain up-to-date maintenance logs.
  • Fleet Management: Maintain an accurate inventory of all GSE assets, ensuring that equipment is tracked, serviced, and rotated as needed.
  • Budget Management: Assist the GSE Manager in managing the maintenance budget, including labor, parts, and repairs. Track and report expenses regularly.
  • Vendor Coordination: Work with external vendors for parts procurement, outsourcing repairs, and equipment replacements. Ensure timely delivery and quality service.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track equipment performance and downtime, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase reliability.
  • Staff Development: Provide ongoing training and development for GSE technicians, ensuring the team is well-versed in new technologies, safety protocols, and best practices.
  • Emergency Response: Lead emergency repairs to minimize operational disruption, coordinating with other departments to ensure quick equipment recovery.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports on GSE performance, maintenance schedules, and operational issues to the GSE Manager and other stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in GSE maintenance and repair, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of GSE equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a team of technicians, promoting a culture of safety and efficiency.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose complex equipment issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with various teams and departments.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Safety-Focused: In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices, with the ability to enforce compliance at all times.
  • Computer Proficiency: Experience with fleet management software, maintenance tracking systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Valid Driver's License: Required for airfield access.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications in automotive or equipment repair (ASE or equivalent).
  • Experience working in an airport environment or for an aviation ground services company.
  • Familiarity with FAA and OSHA regulations for ground support equipment.
  • Knowledge of CAPEX processes and budget management.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
