JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Faculty Affairs and Diversity Equity & Inclusion in the College of Health and Human Development (HHD) is seeking a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Specialist. The successful candidate will support HHD's broad DEIB goals and the work being carried out in the office.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the creation of the strategic vision related to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) efforts in the assigned area; provide outreach, programming, and resources for students, faculty, and staff to enhance belonging.

  • Articulate and promote the benefits of diversity and advocate for an inclusive environment that engages diversity to strengthen and maintain a positive educational experience/environment.

  • Oversee and administer the DEIB budget for assigned areas; allocate resources appropriately.

  • Provide DEIB education through presentations and trainings.

  • Collect data to assess the success of DEIB programs and outcomes; prepare and provide reports and updates.

  • May meet with students or employees related to DEIB concerns; participate in the creation of a remedial action plan.

  • Educate students and employees about avenues and resources for reporting concerns.

  • Design and implement activities for engagement in DEIB efforts and programs.

  • Design and coordinate activities for diverse student/employee groups and organizations while connecting and communicating the mission of the DEIB office with broad audiences.

  • May manage the recruitment and retention of underrepresented students.

  • Maintain industry awareness; update leadership on best practices to create a more inclusive environment for students and employees.

  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

This position will be filled as an Intermediate or Advanced Professional depending on the final candidate's qualifications and experience. Requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher, plus one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience for the Intermediate Professional level. Additional education and experience are required for higher-level positions.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$46,400.00 - $74,000.00

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
