66,737 to 80,034 Application Window Open date: September 9, 2024 Most recent review date: Monday, Nov 25, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Tuesday, Dec 31, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Dr. Henri Drake in the Department of Earth System Science at the University of California, Irvine is seeking a motivated postdoctoral scholar to use innovative methods to investigate the occurrence of compound ocean extreme events and their impacts on marine ecosystems in the Northwest Atlantic. The postdoc will collaborate closely with another UCI postdoc and co-PI Dr. Gael Forget at MIT. The selected candidate will be expected to analyze the spatiotemporal evolution of extreme ocean events in a numerical ocean model and observations; identify the physical and biogeochemical drivers of these events using tracer budgets; and quantify impacts of these extreme events on marine ecosystems. They will communicate their results through peer reviewed publications, conference presentations, participation in NOAA's Marine Ecosystems Taskforce, and open-source code development. They will also be expected to contribute to a supportive and vibrant group culture and mentor undergraduate and doctoral students in the group.
