This position is through a program called the Resource Monitoring Internship (ReMI), which is collaboration between the South Florida/Caribbean Inventory and Monitoring Network of the National Park Service and Florida International University. The ReMI program is designed to facilitate the introduction of students via a recently graduated student or a graduate student to gain experience in resource monitoring. This position is mostly concentrated on soil sampling, bird monitoring, vegetation sampling, sampling of exotic vegetation, and mapping of vegetation communities. However, the research assistant will work on a number of projects related to the management of natural resources in Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, and possible work occurring in Dry Tortugas National Park, Virgin Islands National Park and Salt River Ecological Preserve, St. Croix.
