We are looking for a seasoned Asset Manager to join our team in Port Elizabeth, New Jersey. The Asset Manager, is responsible for assisting in managing the maintenance of all terminal equipment and is also responsible to assist with managing all shops that fall under Asset Management. This includes- Crane, Power, RTG, Chassis, TIR, Reefers, Container Repair, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Terminal Management team to establish optimum utilization- availability and reliability of the various types of container handling equipment such as:

- Ship to Shore Cranes (STS),

- Rubber-Tired Gantry Cranes (RTG),

- Top Loaders,

- Empty Handlers,

- Forklifts

- Yard Chassis

- Trucks/ Cars

  • Use good Engineering Practices with focus on Preventive Maintenance on all equipment.

  • Identify bottlenecks and determine the most economical methods of eliminating these bottlenecks and maximizing throughput; and establish the handling costs at various levels of terminal throughput.

  • Able to assist and guide Engineering projects to full completion.

  • Liaison with Port Authority.

  • Able to work in a Union environment that would include Foreman interaction along with Mechanics.

  • Support APMT's Safety Program by analyzing safety initiatives from a Process and Engineering perspective.

  • Work hand in hand with all onsite Managers from all Maintenance Departments.

  • Direct and manage site to adhere to strict PM practices- to allow site to go from fire fighting, to preventative maintenance to predictive maintenance practices.

  • Oversee maintenance and repair for terminal power equipment through direct supervision of foreman with mechanics. Responsible to ensure that the terminal operation is supplied with properly maintained power equipment through direct interaction and communication of fellow team members in other functional areas (i.e. Yard, Marine & Rail).

  • Direct Labor in all areas of Maintenance Operations, with the primary focus being power equipment, RTG's, and container handling equipment. Responsible to direct labor in the maintaining of a safe and clean working environment through the adherence to OSHA, hazardous, safety procedures and perform frequent inspections of terminal facilities and power equipment.

  • Directly/indirectly supervise labor, including ILA lead personnel (i.e. foremen), to ensure all daily work assignments are completed in a proper, safe, and efficient manner at all times.

  • Review, code and approve purchase orders, using IT systems for parts and material associated with maintaining terminal equipment.

  • Capture true cost of maintenance by equipment number including 100% of parts and labor for each Work Order.

  • Interface with equipment suppliers to develop and to review equipment specifications. Monitor the performance of the equipment and its manufacturer following delivery to the terminal. Responsible to perform on-site quality inspections during the manufacturing process.

Who we are looking for:

  • College Degree in Engineering or related subject at similar level required.

  • Terminal Operations and Leadership experience

  • Accountability - Ability to set operational plans with short-term impact by maintaining standards that lead to high performance and execution.

  • Agility - Ability to modify important changes rapidly.

  • Collaboration - Ability to exchange and adapt skills when working together across boundaries

  • Functional Excellence - Broad knowledge in job area/discipline or expertise in a specific discipline.

  • Must be able to work rotational hours.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work is mostly performed outdoors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will have to withstand exposure to outdoor/adverse working conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally noisy.

Must be able to work variable shifts including evenings & weekends.
