Energy Transfer is a master limited partnership that owns and operates one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of energy assets in the United States. In total, the Company owns and operates approximately 120,000 miles of natural gas, crude oil, refined products, and natural gas liquids pipelines, terminals, and acquisition and marketing assets which are used to facilitate the purchase and sale of crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and refined products.

This is a twelve (12) week paid internship program beginning May 2025. You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program with an expected graduation date in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026.

Summary:



  • Energy Transfer's Public Affairs department is seeking an intern for the 2025 summer to work alongside our team of six professionals across Pennsylvania. The position is based in our Newtown Square office. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of projects, events and initiatives in the areas of community relations, government and regulatory affairs, public relations, and more. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to manage and organize a number of tasks.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • The intern will support our team of six Public Affairs professionals, who are based across Pennsylvania and cover the entire Northeast United States, in a variety of efforts and initiatives:


    • Community engagement: Identifying opportunities and/or responding to requests for partnerships, sponsorships, donations or volunteer hours, and helping to plan and execute events as applicable
    • Facility tours: Helping to coordinate, plan and execute tours of company facilities for external stakeholders
    • Public outreach and meetings: Assist team in planning, coordinating and executing public meetings for projects/permit applications; this includes public outreach in advance of meetings
    • Content development: Assist with drafting social media and blog content to highlight company projects, community initiatives, benefits of pipelines and the products we transport, etc.
    • Organization: Identify and help implement new and better ways to track our outreach and initiatives
    • The intern will have the opportunity to learn about Public Affairs work through light travel, accompanying team members to events such as: state regulatory and legislative meetings in Harrisburg; industry events and seminars; community events we sponsor; check presentations for donations or grants; emergency response trainings with first responders; and more.



Education and/or Experience:



  • The intern applicant should be enrolled in college, preferably as a candidate of one of the following degrees:


    • Public relations
    • Communications
    • Public administration
    • Political science
    • Government relations


  • We are seeking a candidate who is self-motivated, has a strong work ethic, and is involved in activities outside of academic studies.


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational skills and proficiency in Excel
  • Experience in/knowledge of the energy industry is preferable, but not required
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with occasionally tight deadlines
