Job Description

The 2nd Shift Process Engineer is primarily responsible for design, development, implementation and support of assembly, test stations and other equipment to drive improvements in safety, quality and productivity in DTCs global manufacturing operations. The preferred hours for this 2nd shift role are 4:00pm - 1:00am, although we do have some slight flexibility here.

This position will work closely with the software, process and quality engineers to review requirements and implement test and machine controls for production machinery.Through application of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies, lead and facilitate the continuous improvement of methods and technology to reduce the time and material impact of test while improving upstream assembly controls for better quality products. The person in this role will contribute to developing and driving DTC's equipment performance, developing/advising on DTC's Manufacturing initiatives, as well as working with manufacturing teams on improvement efforts for day-to-day operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for processes and equipment to support new product launch and changes to the DTC product line.
  • Direct vendor specification of new and rebuild machines and equipment including test protocol as we make sure the equipment is following Danfoss standards (safety and performance.
  • Support of shop floor need such as device connectivity (torque tools, test and verification equipment, vision systems) as well all deviation reported in the lines.
  • Provide daily support for urgent production issues, including root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Collects data and makes data driven decisions as well reporting results using Operations indicators
  • Builds rapport with colleagues from other functional areas. Works well in cross-functional settings.
  • Ensures sustainability and continuous improvement projects.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
  • Behaves ethically and responsively. Models Danfoss's "Behaviours in Action" and supports the core values of the organization.
  • Other duties as reasonably assigned

Background & Skills

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Industrial/ Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience work experience on manufacturing Operations
  • PLC and/or automation experience
  • Interpersonal and presentation skills with a diverse group of colleagues
  • Strong skills in data analysis and root cause definition
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing practices
  • Familiar with manufacturing KPIs


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Siemens PLC experience preferred
  • Some experience with training needs assessment, design and delivery.
  • Familiarity with SAP ERP concepts
  • Handling Nonconformities Process & Tool Box (4-Steps, 8D, Pareto Analysis,Check-Sheets, Cause & Effect Diagram, Graphs ,5-Why analysis
  • Change Products & Process & Tool Box (PFMEA, CP, MSA, SPC, Capability Study, Manufacturing Process
  • English communication
