Summary

Plans, develops, organizes, implements, supervises, and evaluates a comprehensive therapeutic recreation program as an integral part of the individualized rehabilitation process. Assists patients in attaining and maintaining optimum functioning and a satisfying lifestyle.

Job Duties

  • Updates treatments plans weekly and leads discussions at team conferences.
  • Designs goal directed, individualized treatment plans for each patient to assist in the patients rehabilitation process.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of treatments and modifies treatment plans as indicated to obtain goals.
  • Collaborates with the Volunteer Department, facilitates and evaluates special programs such as Pet Therapy, Friendly Visitors, or any additional programs that may be beneficial to the residents being serviced.
  • Ensures timely changes to the plan of care are documented and communicated to the patient, health care team, and family members as appropriate.
  • Develops weekly and monthly calendars that include a variety of activities based on resident interests and suggestions.
  • Plans and conducts activities that are relevant to the specific needs, interests, and cultural background of the patients.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Therapeutic Recreation or related course of study.
  • 1 year Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in a healthcare setting and
  • 2 years Social program or health care setting
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Certification - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to interact and assess individuals with differences and psychiatric disorders.
  • CTRS - Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
