Brief Description: The Fabrication Shop Manager will be responsible for the successful planning and start-up of the facility including development of efficient, sustainable business processes and systems. Once the facility is operational, the Manager will be responsible for planning and coordinating new fabrication and repair work on structures, tanks, and other oilfield equipment with a focus on safety and quality. This role will work under the direction of the Director of Engineering and Rig Construction. Detailed Description:
- Collaborate with Management and HR/Talent Acquisition to develop and implement flexible workforce strategies for recruiting and hiring fabrication shop personnel in a highly cyclical environment.
- Develop fabrication procedures and establish clear quality standards; implement robust Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) processes to ensure all work is compliant.
- Develop supply chain and procurement operations to support the fabrication facility.
- Work with Engineering to ensure an efficient method of drawing management is deployed, including methods to capture anomalies or errors in drawings and have them corrected.
- Champion a culture that is committed to maintaining the highest safety standards and adhering to all Company HSE policies.
- Focus on continuous improvement, identifying ways to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills; effectively work under pressure and establish a sense of urgency with time sensitive project deliverables.
- Implement and maintain preventive maintenance programs for facility assets.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments and third-party personnel.
- Supervise fabrication shop personnel and daily operations, assigning tasks and ensuring materials are available for job completion.
- Coordinate the proper utilization of third-party contractors and services.
- Maintain an appropriate level of spare and replacement parts inventory to support shop operations.
- Develop, manage, and report on all aspects of the facility budget.
- Provide timely reports on all shop projects with estimated completion time(s)
- Evaluate and review shop personnel as required by company policy, review personnel assignments for work quality and follow-up with performance improvement.

- Physical ability to:
- Lift and carry 25 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl occasionally during visits to the field and operational work areas.
- Listen for unusual noises that signify equipment and or machinery problems.

- Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around the work environment with many moving objects including overhead machinery.

- Knowledge and experience fabricating multiple types of structures, tanks, and other oilfield equipment.
- Knowledge and familiarity with industry and quality standards (ISO, API, OSHA, AWS, ASQ, ASME)
- Working knowledge of basic welding metallurgy and thermal heat treatment
- Knowledge of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Knowledge of procurement and supply chain management for sourcing of material

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in industrial engineering, business administration, or similar
- 7+ years of experience in a fabrication facility making heavy structural, piping, tanks, skids and pressure vessels, or relevant similar experience.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience over skilled and unskilled trade workers
- Previous experience at reading fabrication drawings and ISOs
- Must have and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license and be eligible to drive Company vehicle including ability to meet requirements of Company's Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- Experience in relevant fabrication skilled trades
- Work experience operating under API Q1, API-4F, API-8C, and/or ASME standards
Additional Details This position requires the person to work in both an office and Construction Yard environment. The position must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. Also, must be able to work closely with others and under deadlines including time-sensitive response situations and be willing to work extended schedules that will include working days, and occasionally nights, weekends, and holidays.
