Job Description

The Senior Microsoft SQL/Power BI Reporting Services Developer will play a crucial role in the design, development, and management of SQL databases and Power BI reports. This role requires expertise in SQL Server and Power BI to enhance and maintain reporting solutions that align with the federal client's target architecture and business intelligence objectives. The developer will ensure the highest levels of service and availability for IT systems and data reporting. The position is a hybrid role with 2-3 days of onsite work required weekly.

Responsibilities:

    Design, develop, and manage SQL databases to support business intelligence and reporting needs.
  • Optimize and enhance SQL Server performance, including troubleshooting and resolving database issues.
  • Implement data integration solutions and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Develop, manage, and enhance Power BI reports and dashboards to provide actionable insights and support decision-making.
  • Perform operations and maintenance functions to sustain IT systems and data warehouses, ensuring they operate at the highest levels of service and availability.
  • Configure and test security on report items to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
  • Create cached instances, snapshots, and subscriptions to manage report distribution and performance.
  • Provide expert guidance and support on the use of business intelligence tools and reporting solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and deliver effective solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in SQL Server and Power BI development.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with preferred study in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Systems Management, Math, Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, 7 years of relevant work experience may substitute for educational requirements.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with SQL Server, including expertise in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with Power BI, including the use of Power BI to develop business intelligence, analytics, and decision support
  • Proven experience in developing, managing, and enhancing SQL databases and Power BI reports.
  • Ability to integrate parameters, filters, and interactive components into report designs and deploy reports via Report Server and SharePoint.
  • Experience in creating reports on Analysis Services cubes with Report Builder, Report Designer or Power and managing cached instances, snapshots, and subscriptions.
  • Strong understanding of security configuration and testing for report items.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
