Job Description

The College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) is seeking candidates for the position of Associate Dean for Education and Academic Affairs (ADEAA).

The ADEAA will work closely with the Dean of the CEC on all matters related to academics and education in the college, including the creation, development, and review of programs, the pursuit of new educational initiatives and strategies, establishing and implementing new policies and procedures, and the success and professional development of faculty and staff. A key focus of this position will be to create, enhance, and expand design and project-based learning opportunities for students throughout the CEC, including transforming the freshman experience. The ADEAA will be expected to leverage Missouri S&T's active membership in the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN) to accomplish these goals.

The ADEAA will report directly to the Dean of the CEC and is also expected to take an active role in university initiatives and leadership. The successful candidate will be a possibility thinker, initiative minded leader with the drive to implement new approaches to enhance enrollment, retention and student success. This is a 12-month appointment, where most responsibilities will be administrative (~80%) with the potential for some modest teaching and/or research duties within the appointee's home academic department.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold the rank of Associate Professor or Professor and possess the qualifications necessary for tenure within one of the CEC's nine academic departments. Compelling candidates will demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Strong leadership skills, including prior experience with leadership within a department, college, center, or program
  • Ability to establish excellent working relationships with students, faculty, academic department chairs, and campus-wide administrative offices
  • Excellent organizational, communication, collaborative skills
  • A commitment to a positive and inclusive work environment

COLLEGE of ENGINEERING & COMPUTING (CEC)
Missouri S&T's College of Engineering and Computing is the largest of three colleges at S&T, accounting for approximately 80% of the total enrollment (about 4,500 undergraduates and 800 graduate students). The college includes more than 170 ranked faculty members who serve in 16 undergraduate programs, all with master's and doctoral equivalents organized into nine academic departments. The college recently added a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering and a Ph.D. in bioengineering, both starting in fall 2024.
