The Department of Sociology at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the rank of either Assistant or Associate Professor. Rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials. The position will begin August 15, 2025, and evidence of completion of the PhD by August 14, 2025, is required. We are seeking applicants conducting research in the areas of environment, environmental justice, climate, disasters, or sustainability. The position comes with an opportunity to be affiliated with the newly created interdisciplinary School of Environment and Sustainability (SEaS) and an expectation to teach at least one course which contributes to SEaS degree programs. The selected candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda, generate external research funding, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and contribute service to the department. Sociology is a PhD-granting department with about 150 majors and minors and 35 active PhD students, about two-thirds of whom are domestic students of color or international students. The department houses the endowed Kunz Center for Social Research, which supports faculty and graduate student research. Sociology is also one of 15 units affiliated with the Charles Phelps Taft Research Center, which disburses over one million dollars per year in research and travel grants to faculty and students Essential Functions
