Student Leadership and Engagement, serving the entire student body, provides leadership and vision for coordinating various forms of student involvement and engagement within
DASA at NC State University.
The department encompasses co-curricular leadership programs and initiatives; student organization management; education, and development; student governance; large scale campus programming; global engagement via Alternative Service Break, service and civic engagement coordination; leadership training and coaching; campus-community partnerships; three academic courses; and a robust student intern program. |
Essential Job Duties |

Reporting directly to the Director for Student Leadership & Engagement, the Business will responsible for the following:
Business & Finance
- Maintain budget and accounting records for all funds within Student Leadership and Engagement, an annual budget in excess of $1.5 million
- Assist in coordinating the reconciliation of office finances and also distributes appropriations funding to student organizations each semester (nearly $200k annually) as approved by Student Government, the Student Body Treasurer and their advisors.
- Oversee monthly financial reconciliation including pcard management, office projects, accounting, and cash assets
- Manage pcard purchases, Marketplace orders and vouchers
- Submit quarterly reports to division finance office
- Manage deposits
- Communicate financial plans, spending guidelines, and strategies to SLE team
- Assist teammates with contract and vendor process
- Provide ongoing financial training for professional staff related to university purchasing, travel, student employment, budget planning
Human Resources
- Manage clearances for department staff and students
- Maintain department rosters and Google Group
- Support student and staff onboarding and offboarding
- Assist team with student employee hiring process including annual PEP and work study application process
- Communicate HR timelines to supervisors
Office Management
- Manages repair and maintenance work orders for all SLE Offices.
- Assist with developing office operations and policies
- Support organization workflows, documentation, and internal reports
- Manage department storage facilities
- Serve as department surplus manager
- Monitor and stock office supplies
- Coordinate facility needs with campus partners including NC Student Centers and DASA Facilities

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related business area; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Other Required Qualifications |
- Progressively responsible experience with contracts and accounting, including managerial roles
- Proficiency in database management software
- Proficiency with standard office software, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat; and adaptability to the ever-changing technology within the University
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a self-starter and willing to take the initiative to perform responsibilities independently
- Strong organizational and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with PeopleSoft preferred.
- 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in contracts and managing funds
- Experience in office management and/ or accounting in higher education setting
