JOB MISSION:
The Senior Director will lead a team of Data Scientists to develop and deploy strategic solutions by harnessing research, statistical modeling, machine learning, and generative AI advanced analytics. They will partner with businesses across supply chain, consumer marketing and merchandising domains to enable financial benefits to the organization by providing technical capabilities to drive new, quality-focused solutions to adoption. They will lead the development of quality-focused, world-class advanced analytics and AI solutions, leading multiple projects to capture value based on value proposition and feasibility. They will also drive multi-year analytics and AI strategies, develop business cases and financial models for investments, and monitor key performance indicators for programs.

THE ROLE REQUIRES TO BE ON-SITE T, W & TR.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Combines domain expertise, business acumen, and advanced analytics to build and lead enterprise team of data science professionals
  • Partners closely with business users, Data Architects, and experts to envision, drive, and deliver innovative, compelling, and quality AI solutions at speed and scale
  • Leads analysis of the competitive AI and ML environment, leading customer uses, and metrics to determine the right set of features to drive engagement and business goals
  • Leads development of Generative AI models for use across the domains
  • Provides Generative AI models that are scalable in the enterprise, develops support and maintenance strategy
  • Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and overall data systems leadership to influence executive business leadership decisions, development partners, and industry standards groups
  • Drives complex projects to mine data using modern tools and programming languages
  • Provides clarity of action in critical strategic decisions and develops data-driven decision support processes in supply chain and related areas
  • Manages and creates relationships with business partners to evaluate and foster data driven innovation, provide domain-specific expertise in cross-organization projects/initiatives
  • Works cross-functionally to develop data pipelines, AI models, and digital tools to drive efficiency and accuracy
  • Defines and implements models to uncover patterns and predictions creating business value and innovation
  • Defines, communicates and drives data insights/innovation into the business
  • Communicates business value and innovation potential through effective insights and visualizations
  • Assures insights are communicated regularly and effectively, reviewing designs, models and accuracy and data compliance
  • Provides guidance, training and mentoring to less experienced staff members
  • Leads, coaches, cares for, and grows teams of customer-focused data scientists
  • Participates in performance management to enhance associate development; sets expectations for high performing work teams; manages pay recommendations and encourages personal and professional career development

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Experience deploying analytical and AI solutions, including generative AI, in a business setting with proven results
  • Minimum 12+ years' industry experience
  • Preferred Languages / Certifications: Python, Databricks, GitHub Co-Pilot, Azure, ChatGPT /Claude, PowerBI, Tibco's Spotfire
  • Extensive experience using statistics, mathematics, algorithms and programming languages to solve big data challenges
  • Demonstrated innovation across the supply chain, merchandising and consumer domains
  • Have extensive experience solving analytical issues through quantitative approaches and machine learning methods and vast experience using advanced statistical methods, data mining techniques, and information retrieval
  • Fluent in structured and unstructured data, its management, and modern data transformation methodologies. Must be comfortable analyzing and manipulating large, complex, high-dimensional data from numerous sources.
  • Ability to define and create complex models to pull valuable insights, predictions and innovation from data
  • Experience integrating and deploying computational analysis with generative AI solutions into business processes
  • Deployment of Generative AI solutions into a business process
  • Effectively and creatively tell stories and create visualizations to describe and communicate data insights
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language
  • Ability to effectively communicate data product architectures and/or algorithm design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels, BU and executive levels

Flexible Work Schedule

For decades we have fostered a unique culture founded on our values with a particular focus on in-person teamwork and collaboration. Our North American hybrid model encourages rich in-person experiences, showcasing our commitment to teamwork and connection, while maintaining flexibility for associates. New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Our offices are fully open, and amenities are available across our North American office locations. To continue our focus on hybrid work we have introduced "Work from Anywhere" (WFA) for four weeks per calendar year. This model will help us enhance our culture while continuing to maintain elements of flexibility.
